Deathrock is a sub-genre of punk closely related to goth rock, which developed in the late 1970s from the Los Angeles punk scene independently from the goth scene developing near the same time in the UK.

Deathrock music incorporates elements of campy Horror and spooky themes. Lyrics can range from being dark and moody, dealing with disillusionment, life and death, and surrealism, to being tongue-in-cheek and silly sci-fi/horror themes.

Some good examples of Deathrock bands are Kommunity FK, early Christian Death, Skeletal Family, and 45 Grave.

Fashion of Deathrock tends to be a strong mix of punk with early goth, incorporating torn fishnets, DIY decorated leather jackets, close fitting clothing, and often multiple belts worn at once. A favorite hairstyle of Deathrockers is a version of the Mohawk called the Deathhawk. It is wider than the average Mohawk and is generally teased or backcombed up with hair spray rather than gel.

Deathrock has no relation to the similarly named Metal sub-genre, Death Metal.

Is emo and goth the same?

Emo stems from the Washington D.C. Hardcore Punk scene. It is a genre of music pioneered by the band The Rites of Spring. The fashion is based on the 1950's "geeky" type, along with a mix of "Indie Rock" attire.Goth stands for Gothic Rock, and it is the offspring of Post-Punk, which is the original Punk Rock scene, but with reduced aggression, earning the title "Positive Punk".Gothic Rock's musical elements are the combination of Post-Punk, Psychedelic Rock, Glam Rock, and Horror Film scores.Gothic Rock originally was known as "the Batcave sound", after the world's first Goth nightclub called The Batcave, owned by the Gothic Rock group Specimen. This movement was influential in the development of a fusion of American Punk Rock and English Batcave to form a genre known as Deathrock.Deathrock was the starting point for a group known as The Misfits, who fused Deathrock with a genre called "Doo-wop" (similar to Surf Punk) and created Horror Punk.Horror Punk's image was identical to Goth/Deathrock...Emo influenced Alternative Rock group My Chemical Romance, took upon the image of Horror Punk. This is where the misconception occurred.Emo and Goth are extremely different. Absolutely no similarities. It was just marketed as something "close".Basicly no!

What kind of music do goth listen to?

There's no subgenres of goth, like many would have you believe, however certain bands within the goth genre have different tendencies (Killing Joke and Alien Sex Fiend lean Industrial, Fields of the Nephelim and Nosferatu lean hard rock, The Cure and Siouxsie and The Banshees lean pop). Simply put, goth people listen to whatever they want, but primarily goth rock (see the bands mentioned above). Listening to bands outside of the genre doesn't detract from your 'goth cred' so don't be embarrassed to admit you like something other than Bauhaus. Also, just because a goth person is listening to it, doesn't make it goth. Just because a goth kid is listening to Lady Gaga, doesn't make it goth now, does it? For the most part, popular genres other than goth rock popular amongst the subculture are: Post-punk (The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen), New Wave (Duran Duran, Depeche Mode), Psychobilly (Demented Are Go, The Meteors), Deathrock (Christian Death, 45 Grave), and Punk (Sex Pistols, Crass).

Where do you find death daisy's in sims 2 castaway ps2?

Hi! The flower appears onlywhen a Sim has died at the location of the Sim's death.Crafting the Death Daisy Potion requires the following:Death Daisy Potion:Motive Benefits: NoneResources Required:Death Daisy: 1Blood Orange: 1Manchineel Fruit: 1Mandrake Root: 1Places, Tools and Skills:Crafting Bench: 1Cooking: 3Whenever a Sim does not appear at home at the end of the day, look at the SimsSwitcher. If you see a gravestone above the Sim's icon, it means that the Simhas died. You need to find the location on the map where the Sim died inorder to find the Death Rock for that Sim. The Death Rock is a memorial stonerather like a gravestone.Having found the Death Rock, you then need to choose the option to:MournKeep mourning until the Death Daisy appears, watered by the mourner's tears.Choose the option to:Pick DaisyNow, make certain that one of the surviving Sims has a Cooking level of 3.Send that Sim to the Crafting Bench to concoct the Death Daisy Potion.Once the Death Daisy Potion has been made, you need to return to the DeathRock. You now will see two options:MournResurrectAny living Sim can resurrect a deceased one, provided you have the Death DaisyPotion in your Inventory. Once made, it will last forever. Each time a Simdies, however, you need to go through the same steps of:1. Find Death Rock2. Mourn3. Pick Death Daisy4. What does it takes to be goth?

It honestly depends how you look at it. What does "goth" mean to you? It's not just wearing black and it is NOT shopping at Hot Topic, NOT listening to Manson,HIM,Evanescence, or NIN, and it is NOT about being a satanist. If you really are a satanist (as in you study the religion), then so be it. It's fine then, because the goth subculture is about accepting differences among people. But, if you just pretend to be one because you think you have to to be goth...just...just don't. Goth is about wearing what you want, thinking what you want, believing what you want, having any kind of religion, or musical tastes (but you have to listen to dark, artsy, and REAL goth music as well), or any kind or job, or orientation. You can have any body type and can be of any race (that whole "pale white" thing is a sterotype). Next, do not just follow the stereotype. You don't have to wear just black. Other accepted goth colours are purple, blood red, silver, ghostly white, blues, greens (but mostly darker shades, like emeralds), etc. You also don't have to act all depressed or like a psycho cannibalistic murderer. That is not what goth is about at all, whatsoever. It's about beauty, art, romanticism, darkness, and being sophisticated. I mean, there's a thing called a "perky goth", which is proof that goths can be happy too. Go to goth clubs. Do some research on the Batcave. Even though it no longer exists, you can listen to the style of music played there. Learn goth slang. Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth_slang (paste it in the browser) Listen to gothic music. Gothic music is not really based upon metal, like you may think. It's less screaming and more art. Gothic music is based upon such genres as deathrock, no wave, and post-punk. Some good bands are: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Southern Death Cult, The Cure, Collide, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Switchblade Symphony, and many more. Learn to appreciate art...especially gothic architecture, just for namesake =) Read gothic novels. Gothic fiction is about horror and romance, and a bit of the supernatural. Also, check out some poetry. A like to some gothic authors: http://www.booksnbytes.com/genres/gothic.HTML Some others are Anne Rice, Mary Shelley, and Edgar Allen Poe. Watch gothic film. It's not just about vampires. You can have fantasies of other mystical creatures too. Learn to accept differences and enjoy knowledge and widening your horrizons. Make your own clothes. Instead of always giving in to the corperate representation of gothic, try some DIY. Gothic clothing is not just black jeans, chains, black deathmetal teeshirts, spikes, and black make up. It's also about looking sophisticated, beautiful, and formal. Common elements are lace, velvet, and religious symbols. Learn about the germanic tribe called the Goths. The gothic subculture, created in 1980's United Kingdom, is based upon their culture. Here's more of an explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gothic_rock_bands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth_subculture Remember: Don't force it. Don't force yourself to like goth stuff. If you like it, good. If you don't...don't pretend. Also, don't force goth as a political message unto others. If you don't understand what that means, here'ssoething someone told me: In the 60's, hippies responded to the condition of the world with the act of trying to make things better. In the 70's, punks responded to the condition of the world with the middle finger and anarchy (not saying you can't be an anarchist) and did everything to make a bold statement. In the 80's, goths responded to the condition of the world by dressing how they wanted and by expressing the darker side of human nature. So, now the rest is up to you.

What are Goths?

The Goths were an East German tribe that was instrumental in the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of the Medieval Europe. See the related link below for more information.Goth bands include: Bauhaus, Joy Division, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Birthday Party.Goths are people who are 'part' of the gothic subculture which usually means wearing black and other darker velvet tones. There are many different types of goth. Some of the more 'famous' ones are the romantic goths who usually wear lace, velvet and generally elegant and spookily decadent clothing. There are also the hardcore deathrockers, etc.Goths appreciate the beauty in death and darkness and we embrace the fact that life isn't always happy and perfect. And we LOVE Halloween!
