Ernest Rutherford gave a huse contribution to nuclear research. He was the first person to split an atom therefore learning the first nuclear leap in history. He discovered alpha particles and beta particles. after spliting the atom, he was given a Nobel physics prize and was given the title of Baron Rutherford of Nelson which was in his home country, New Zealand.
