Lymphomas are basically cancers of the blood that affect the white blood cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are designed to protect the body against infections. These can affect T lymphocytes or B lymphocytes. When the B cells are involved then a b-cell lymphoma develops. Diseases such as Hodgkins lymphoma and non hodgkins lymphoma are b cell lymphomas.
