∙ 10y agoThe Akkadian Empire is considered the first Empire in history, uniting a large amount of city states under one ruler, Sargon of Akkad. The Empire's governmental structure was often emulated by Assyrian and Babylonian rulers after the anarchism and breakup of Sargon's empire following his death. The story of Sargon of Akkad was paraphrased in The Bible, in which Sargon of Akkad was picked up from a basket of reeds by Akki the Irrigator, who raised him as his own son.
