What is the average cost for builder grade carpet and installation?
There really is no such thing as "builder grade " carpet. The closest definition would be low cost carpet. When buying carpet the general rule is the more it costs the better the carpet. The cost for installation is a bit trickier because installation prices can vary widely from area to area and also depends on what the installer will be doing ie; wood floor or concrete, a lot of seams, hiring a helper, etc. Unlike buying carpet paying more doesn't necessarily mean a better installation. So, the answer to your question in my opinion and in my area of the country would be about $9 per square yard for carpet and installation (not including padding). But at those prices I honestly wouldn't expect much.

5- 7 bucks a SF and most guys charge a minimum fee. Example average kitchen backsplash is 30 Square feet 210.00 wouldn't be worth doing most tile guys minimum charge is 350.00-400.00 Here in Chicago the average price for installation of your ceramic tile should be about 5.50 per S/F straight lay o…ut and $ 6.50 for 45 degree lay out but thast if is ceramic quarry tile and if is a porcelain tile is about $ 7.00 dollar per foot if is a shiny tile. There is no real average because so many variables are involved such as: Types of substrates i.e.. Wood, Concrete, Gypsum screed will require different types of installation methods. For instance an uncoupling membrane or anti-fracture membrane would be highly recommended over most concrete slabs. This would substantially increase your labor costs. Types of Tile: Stone, Glass, Porcelain, Quarry, Ceramic all require different installation methods and installation materials that can alter the cost of labor. Other factors that may affect the price are if the installer includes cement board and mortar. These materials can be costly and if included make sure you factor that in. A 100 square foot floor should run 600-700 dollars Wall Tile can be more. (MORE)
It depends on the level of service being provided. For newconstruction no furniture to move or old flooring to remove, pricesin the Northeast are approximately 65 cents per square foot. Forreplacing residential carpet where the installers are movingfurniture and ripping up old carpet prices are appr…oximately $1.00a square foot. If you are considering purchasing the highestquality carpet, plan to budget for at least $4.50 to $5.50 persquare foot. Prices may vary throughout the country and in othercountries. You haven't said where you are, so the only option is to say - call a few floor layers in YOUR area and get an hourly rate, or better still ask them to look first and give a cost for the whole job.
In Boulder CO (Aug 2008) I received an estimate for $0.75/sq ft per for tearing out carpet which works out to $6.75 per sq yard. I have seen other sites give a guide line of between $3 and $5 per sq yard so the $6.75 seems a bit high. This is a "tear out" only fee it does not include the "dump" fee …which was quoted on a "per room" basis at about $65 per 300 sq ft room. My guess is that the "tear out fee" can vary quite a bit depending on what other work you have done. For example if you are installing hard wood floors at $5.00 sq ft (labor) they might include free carpet removal. BTW I'm not very experienced flooring so please double check all these figures. Good luck. (MORE)

It is generally not a recommended procedure. The abrasion of carpet on carpet will cause both layers to wear prematurely. Labor is usually the major cost of installing trim..baseboard and chair rails are pretty quick and easy, crown molding is a bit more difficult. Hardwood floors have two main costs. The cost of the flooring, which ranges from about $4.50 per square foot and up. The cost of labor which typically runs between $3.00 to $5.00 per square foot. There will be added costs if the contractor has to tear up an old floor.. So measure the room dimension…s. Say your room is 18 ft by 15 ft. Then calculate the square footage as: 18 x 15 = 270 sqft. Add about 30 sqft for waste(about 10%) so figure 300 sqft in wood. Then multiply by some reasonable number for the wood price & labor. Say $5.00 per sqft for flooring and $4.00 per sqft for labor = $9.00 per sqft total. Then this job should cost about $9 x 300 = $2700.. The numbers above are for standard 3/4" thick hardwood flooring that requires nailing. Another alternative is a much thinner wood (about 3/8" thick) which is about $3.00 per sqft. It is glued down. In my opinion its a very good alternative if you're on a tight budget. Labor should be about the same. (MORE)

Average would be $5/ sq yd. Although prices would very depending on Geographics, and type of carpet. This price is just to install pad and carpet. First of all, building is a construction trade. Depending on what level of qualification you want to do will depend on what GCSE grades you get at school. Second of all a builder is most likely referred to as a Bricklayer. There are a wide range of courses for bricklaying; from apprenticeshi…ps and NVQ's to Diploma's. Diploma's normally require you to have AT LEAST 5 GCSE grades at A* to C including Maths and English Language. On the other hand you can start of at level 1 in Bricklaying which will ask you to have no more than 2 GCSE's at grade D-G, however most of you will start on level 2. This requires you to have 2 GCSE's at grade A*-C including English Language at grade A* to E and maths at grade D. There are many different ways you can enter the construction world but i would recommend taking the apprenticeship root, if you can get an apprenticeship then your basically sorted, you will also be earning £95 a week for the first year and £215 for the second year. An apprenticeship course will require you to attend college once a week, and working in the industry 4 days a week. I hope that i have answered your question, and good luck on your quest to become a Bricklayer! P.S Here are a list of different Bricklaying courses you can study at college: Bricklaying Apprenticeship (level 2) Bricklaying (NVQ Level 1) Bricklaying (NVQ Level 2) Bricklaying (NVQ Level 3) Bricklaying Construction Diploma Level 2 (Technical Certificate) Thank You. Cost will vary depending on what type of finish the molding will have, paint grade or stain. Generally speaking no. Most big box retailers offer installation for $100 or less as long as you buy carpet and pad. This question has no definite answer. Some suppliers quote it as an installed price already included. It may be sold by th…e roll with so many square feet in the roll or not depending on your installer or supplier. You usually use no more than 1/2" pad with cut pile carpet and recommend 7/16" or less for berber or low pile carpets. Synthetic padding is best for berbers or loop piles. This type of padding has less bounce but will out perform foam padding in this application. (MORE)
