It depends on what part of Japan you are talking about. Hokkaido gets very cold and Okinawa is like Hawaii. Tokyo is compared to Washington D.C. in its climate. It also depends on what time of year. They are in the Northern Hemisphere so summer is in June, July, August and winter is November, December, January.
Temperature
it really does differ through where you are and when.
This depends on the place and time.
Depends entirely on what location.
The capital city Sapporo has an average temperature of -4°C in January and 22°C in August
Asahikawa City in central Hokkaido has an average temperature of -9°C in January and 21°C in August.
June and July are rainy seasons and the temp usually rises above 80 in the day time...and has high humidity due to the rain....

Since Japan stretches approximately 20 degrees of latitude, from 25 degN to 45 degN, and approximately 23 degrees of longitude, from 122 degE to 145 degE, the climate varies widely from one region to region. Basically, Japan has four distinct seasons. Spring months are March, April, and May. Summer months are June, July, and August. Autumn months are September, October, and November. Winter months are December, January, and February. Summer is hot and humid in general. During the winter, it snows a lot on the Sea of Japan side, and it is dry on the Pacific Ocean side.
In Tokyo, the temperature in summer is between 24ํํํํํํํํํ°c and 28°c and in winter it is between 4°c to 10°c.
In Tokyo, the temperatures can be about 0 degrees at the lowest (in the winter), and the highest is 38 degrees (in the summer).

Depends greatly where you live. Northern Japan, Hokkaido, average temperatures both day and night are below freezing from around Decemeber through March can get as low as nearly -30oC in some parts, but even the city of sapporo will see temperatures at night down to -10oC and day temps not getting above freezing, Many parts of hokkaido will have below freezing temps at night until well into May or even June. Mainland northern Japan is also cold but less severe than Hokkaido. The middle areas of Japan average around 0oC at night minimum in Tokyo to as low as -20oC in the higher mountains. Day temperatures for Tokyo tend to be around the 9oC mark in winter with the mountain areas being colder. Southern parts of Japan, Kyushu, Shikoku tend to remain above zero and are relatively warm in winter, with the exception of the tallest mountains which do receive some snow. Okinawa far southern Japanese island is very warm in winter with temperatures typically around the 20oC mark even at night.
