The basic duties of any government is to provide for the security of its citizens and to pass laws that improve the well being of the nation. Security means both protection from outside forces and to create and enforce laws internally that guarantee the safety of its citizens. The government must insure that every citizen is treated equally under its laws. Another basic duty is to have its citizens the right to vote for political positions in the government. Under basic duties is the freedom of speech and religion.
