The basic structural unit of all living organisms is the cell. All living things are composed of cells. This line actually comes from the cell theory, which states:

1) The cell is the basic unit of structure and function in all living things

2) All living things are comprised of one or more cells

3) All cells rise from pre-existing cells

All living organisms are made up of at least one cell, and most are composed of multiple cells.

The function of the cell is to provide life to living organisms which are made up of one or more cells. You have about 100 trillion cells in your body. The cells of most animals are organized into higher levels of structure , including tissues, organs, and systems.
