The quickest way would be to get a taxi.

The cheapest (€2.20 adult single at time of writing have change, they won't accept notes) would be to get one of the Dublin Bus routes to the city centre and then another bus, possibly the 46A from the city centre. Another option would be to get a bus to the city centre and then the train, known as the DART to Dún Laoghaire. That would be quicker.

Aircoach (a privately operated bus company) now has a route that goes through Dún Laoghaire as well which is dearer(€8 adult single €14 return) but it is faster, the stop is right outside the airport door and it runs through the night. So during night time this is the cheapest option.

The best way is to fly, as there are flights between Dublin and Cork. The other options are road and rail. You can get a train from Heuston Station, which you can get a bus to from the airport. You can also get buses from the airport to the main bus station in Dublin called Busaras, from where you can get buses to Cork. You could also drive, by going south towards the M50 from Dublin Airport, joining the M50 and coming off at Junction 9 and then driving to Cork.

Dún Laoghaire is in county Dublin and south of the city of Dublin. The quickest way is to get the DART, which is a train that goes to Dublin. You could also get a bus, like the 46A. You could also drive, going along the coast road, passing Blackrock, Booterstown and into the city. Much of that route drives along by the DART line.

There is not much different in terms of distance, whichever way you go.

What is best way to get from Shannon airport to Dublin?

If you are driving the best route is the N19/N18 to Limerick and then the M7/N7 to Dublin. This involves 2 toll roads -- one under the River Shannon on the N18 and the other nearer Dublin on the M7. Total journey time would be approx 2.25 - 2.30 hours, depending on your final destination in Dublin. By public transport you can get a bus from the airport to Limerick and then either a bus or a train to Dublin. The bus would be cheaper but the train is generally a bit quicker, although it involves a change of trains at Limerick Junction, which could be awkward if you have a lot of luggage etc
