The stone age is divided into: Plaaeolithic which is roughly accepted as that time when man started to use materials as tools without reforming what he found. He just used what was to hand without making any modifications to the find. Mesolithic which is accepted as being that period of his history in which man began to modify the materials that he found. e.g. grinding and flint napping. Neolithic in which man combined materials using the technology of fitting various shapes and materials together to make more effective tools and weapons. e.g. Axes with wooden handles Arrows with reed or wooden shafts. etc
