What is the difference between a direct vent water heater and a power direct vent water heater and how do you know if you need one or the other?
Generally, a direct vent must be next to an outside wall or be connected to a chimney that extends 2-4 feet above roof peak (all gases and fumes from the burner will vent naturally). A power vent is used when the unit is put inside the home in a closet or on an interior wall. It must have venting to an outside wall and must have a blower fan to remove gases from the water heater so they don't back up into the house.

Answer . [Note: There are critical safety concerns involved here. Read the whole answer!] . I'm no plumber, but I do know this:. You need to determine if your water heate…r is designed for side venting or verticle venting! . If installed improperly, the water heater may allow deadly carbon monoxide into your home and possibly cause a fire! . I think this one is best left up to a professional. Hope this helps.
a direct vent water heater is more fuel efficient (cost's less to operate). aside from that there isn't much difference, aside from not needing a double wall flue through the …roof on a standard gas water heater.
You heater works from water flowing from your radiator to the heater core, you may have a leak in your heater core. . You most likely also smell antifreeze inside the vehicl…e. It is most likely casued by a leaky heater core. Unfortunatly depending upon the make/model/year of your vehicle a heater core can be difficult and/or expensive to replace.
\nnot even in the same state
If the installer used CHEAP single wall flue pipe (sheet metal) and the heater is running for an extended amount of time YES it gets very hot and double wall piping should be …used when passing through any flammable area AGA , NFPA 54
The water heater is a domestic device that is used to heat waterfor domestic purposes. A boiler on the other hand does not justheat the water but makes the water boil and turn…s it into steam.
double walled gas flue pipe and a hole to run the pipe thru. any lowes store or hardware store carries it and can tell you exactly how to do it
Replaced tee in heater hose on a 1994 Deville not need to know the water flow direction to be sure it in turned in the right way?
Arrow points toward the heater core, left I believe. FYI , when mine broke I replaced it with a barbed fitting $.59 and my heat works fine.
Probably more, but one way to tell, is if it's leaking and it's old. Human nature being what it is, wait until the first sign of water that shows up in the catch pan that the… heater sits on. This is definitely time to replace the tank.

Carbon monoxide is the worst what can happened if the venting is blocked or if it works with problems.
The difference between a mobile gas water heater and a standard gaswater heater is that a MH unit will use an outside air intake forcombustion. That is the most important diff…erence.
The direct air heater takes the space air or fresh air and mixes it with hot gasses from a flame source such as natural gas flame or oil fired flame and returns / redirects it… to the space to be heated. The warm air contains all the flame byproducts and toxic gasses along with. This type of air handling system is used in industrial environment where the human beings are not exposed to such warm air. In the indirect system the hot flame gasses circulate through a metallic high efficiency heat exchanger which isolates the flame gasses (aka flue gasses) from that of the air to be warmed by passing from the other side of the heat exchanger. This type of air is safe for human exposure as the flame products and toxic COx, NOx and SOx are isolated. usually all the domestic air heaters are of indirect type.
That is probably the control panel. Don't know why but they seem to have a fairly high failure rate. You can probably find a good one for a lot less cash at a salvage yard. Sa…ve your knobs...people snatch them up at the salvage yard all the time.
An electric water heater does not need a vent (or flue) though you will want a plumed out piping on the pop-off valve on the heater. We've got that but the supply line (cold)… is insulated but sweating; probably due to change in water temperature vs. ambient temperature. The water heater is inside the closet which is accessed from within our bedroom closet. There is no roof vent and there is a door on the closet. My thought is to put two vents--one down low & one up high--in an effort to allow the moisture to escape. Any thoughts?
The water heater has an electric heating element that is responsible to make the water hot if submerged to water. While the Calorifier is composed of steam coil where the stea…m from boiler passes through, is responsible to make the water hot if it get contact to the steam coil.
