∙ 11y agoTraditionally, BC was used and meant 'before Christ.' Today, society as a whole tends to move away from biblical terminology and uses BCE meaning 'Before the Common Era.' The line so to speak is with the birth of Christ and many cannot determine when this happened and defer counting by convention beginning in 1 A.D. meaning 'Anno Domini' or the year of our Lord now referred to as CE or the Common Era.
