The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is located at the lower front of the engine on the engine front cover, also called the timing cover. Through a use of magnetic pulsation, the CKP sensor provides the PCM (control module) with a crankshaft position signal. The PCM uses that signal to determine the spark sequence (firing order) for each cylinder. It also uses the signal to precisely control ignition timing and calculate engine speed, etc. Hope that helps - and Blessings!
ANSWER: CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - 4.7L V-8 ENGINE
REMOVAL
The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located at the right-rear side of the engine cylinder block CKP Sensor Location/Removal/Installation - 4.7L V - 8 Engine It is positioned and bolted into a machined hole in the engine block
Disconnect CKP electrical connector at sensor.
Remove CKP mounting bolt CKP Sensor Location/Removal/Installation - 4.7L V - 8 Engine
Carefully pry sensor from cylinder block in a rocking action with two small screwdrivers.
Remove sensor from vehicle.
Check condition of sensor o-ring.
INSTALLATION
Clean out machined hole in engine block.
Apply a small amount of engine oil to sensor o-ring.
Install sensor into engine block with a slight rocking action. Do not twist sensor into position as damage to o-ring may result
CAUTION: Before tightening sensor mounting bolt, be sure sensor is completely flush to cylinder block. If sensor is not flush, damage to sensor mounting tang may result.
Install mounting bolt and tighten to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.
Connect electrical connector to sensor.
it is located on the top of the bell houseing at the back of the block
It might use ign. coil#1 or ign. coil #6 as a crank sensor, whichever is visibly slightly different from the other coils. If coil is suspect, replace coil and all 6 plugs.
Should be right behind and to the side of the crank pulley. You will see wiring going to a plug.
Its right behind the crank pulley on the passenger side of the engine. You will see the wire connector going to it.
Top driver side of the bell housing.
The crank sensor should be on the drivers side of the transmission bell housing. It's more towards the top of the bell housing. The easiest way to get to it is reaching down from the top of the engine just below the valve cover. Atleast that is where it is on my 91 4.0L
It must be on the same location as in my 96 Grand Cherokee. Behind the spare tire there is a small door you can open and there you find that module. You got to remove the spare tire to see it.
The front axle did not have limited slip from the factory.
NoNo
Driver side of the bell housing.
It is on the right rear of the engine block(pass side) just above the oil pan.
Top driver side of the bell housing.
behind engine , on top of transmission housing , slightly to the right side. There is some 30cm of cable attached to sensor and than a connector to instalation.

sensor is in the plastic reserve on the float.
Inside the fuel tank. Tank has to be removed to access.
check relay box under the hood
it located under the steering wheel under the dash by the gas pedal.
It is under the front of the passenger side cylinder head.
As you face the car with the hood open, look on your left below the water pump towards the big middle pulley.
i have a 1992 Cherokee limited on it its under the lower pannel to the right of the streeing wheel
