In most sexually reproducing organisms the evolutionarily stable strategy for the sex of offspring is 50-50. Of course, there are some major exceptions to this (e.g., ants, bees). See Richard Dawkins' "The Selfish Gene," or Olivia Judson's "Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation."
