Annona muricata
Anonas LRT Station was created in 2003.
I think is a prehistoric species of fruits that dates to more than130 million years. Fossils of large cherimoyas have been found in Villa de Leiva, Colombia next to fossils of dinosaurs. There are several varieties within the anonas species: The relative new to the US: cherimoya, the guanabana (considered the best tasting of all), anon ( similar to cherimoya, but with more sandy texture inside and rougher looking outside), there are other lesser known fruits of this species. The anonas are believed to produce neurotoxins that affect the brain of some rats. No conclusion has been reached among the scientific community about the effect on humans, except for one case in a region where not only the fruit by the leaves of the plant are consumed.
