There is no option of illegal immigration (not the one which is official). Those who exercise this option are recognised as "refugee or as aliens". Honestly, it is better to try hard and survive in your own country than be at a foreign land as an illegal immigrant. (It is STRICTLY UNSOLICITED).
Success of an immigrant depends on fulfilling all legal criterion and being at a foreign land and achieve what he/she desires to.
Success of a nation in receiving immigrants is an altogether different aspect. Canada welcomes immigrants to satisfy its labor needs and so do majority of the other nations.
Thus, success of immigrants is at two levels
1st -> To land and settle in a foreign nation after successfully complying with requirements of passport, visa, medical examination and skills test (if applicable), etc.
2nd -> To settle and flourish and let the economy of that nation benefit from your hard work.
