Answer . Your best bet is to remove center grill 1st. Then, access to the headlamp is much easier. You might also have to remove trim piece unde headlamp but, it simply pop…s in. Also, on those headlights, there is a center reflector piece inside the lamp itself. This is what the bulb goes in. Unfortunately, it is common in these cars that this piece becomes detached from the headlamp unit and floats around inside there...causing your beam to be up or down.
Answer . \nIt's easy - there should be some instructions in the user manual, but if you lost it then just do this:\n. \nThe passenger's side is easier to change than the …driver's side because the battery is in the way on the driver's side. Answer . The ECM that controls all your heating and cooling, fans etc. is located in your center module. It is in the top part of the rack that holds your radio.
The thermostat is located in the front of the motor, underneath the plenum and intake manifold. (Both must be removed to access it. ) Just follow the upper radiator hose on th…e driver's side. It connects to it. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-catera-cimarron-forum/ is a great site for repairing your Catera
Yes. the computer will adjust the timing automatically; however, you will see about a ten percent drop in fuel mileage so why bother.? Also, you may get carbon buildup using r…egular. when you figure the difference in cost against the loss in mileage you find you're saving nothing.
buy a kit off the internet!
Use a 1/4" drive ratchet and extension. run the extension up the hole in the center of the filter cover. The filter is a replaceable cartridge with a gasket not a spin on.
NO! All Cateras are problems. Many, many individuals have bought this car and spent two to three times the cost of the car, in repairs. Join the Catera group on Yahoo to see a…ll the problems.
The Cadillac Catera, while a beautiful car, suffers from listed "recall" issues regarding failed bearings in their DOHC timing belt tensioners. (There are two) The L81 V-6 eng…ine designed (used in this car as a 3.0, and 3.2 liter offerings) suffered of this mostly because the valve to piston clearance is "crush" configuration so that when the belt slipped or broke, the engine was damaged. (Holes being punched through a piston or bending a valve, thereby cracking a head) They are a distributor less engine, so the problems you are having could be indicative of bad spark plugs or wires, fuel filter flow, (dirty fuel filter) or regrettably, a stretched or worn timing belt/ tensioners. It would be advisable for you to take it to the dealer to have them check to see if it was part of the recall, or to your local mechanic for repairs. Other issues like the failing of sensors or the computer modual are beyond the scope of a "Shade tree mechanic" so it isn't recommended that you attempt to make these repairs yourself.
on the tranny, underneath the car. it's about $100 and change from rockauto.com or any other good online source (don't use a caddy dealer - lot more $$$). also, go join cadill…acforums.com and look up the catera/cimarron area (mainly cateras). thousands and thousands of questions and very good answers there. enjoy!

go to the dealer ( Cadillac or subsidiary) near you and take your VIN number they will find out the code to unlock your stereo, it is caused because the batery was diconected …or discharged, the memory of the stereo keeps watching for the vin number stored in memory but if you loose it you need a code, this kind of stereos only work on Cadillac, do not try to install it on a Nissan it won work, or any other car that is not the original. ha ha ha ha reddragon.
In Transmission Fluid
Surprise! There isn't one! There is a plug on the side of the Transmission pan. The transmission is full when fluid starts draining from the removed plug.

$900-1200 is the going rate in most of the country. However this car uses the GM L81 3.0 V6. This engine has also been used in some Saturn and Saab models so be on the lookout… for one of those as well. You would need to reuse your parts from intake manifold up though if you went that route.

If the speedometer/odometer is working, chances are the VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor) is good.
