Is the autonomic nervous system?

The autonomic nervous system that controls the functions within the body. Some functions that it controls are the heartbeat, digestive system, and breathing. The autonomic nervous system is the part of the peripheral nervous system that acts as a control system. It functions largely below the level of consciousness to control visceral functions.

Is autonomic central system part of central nervous system?

The autonomic nervous system is a division of the peripheral nervous system that controls automatic responses in the body, such as the heart rate, hormone levels, gastrointestinal functions, and metabolism.

What is the functions of the autonomic nervous system?

The involuntary nervous system that is involved with organ regulation is called the Autonomic nervous system (ANS) and is comprised of the Sympathetic nervous system and the Parasympathetic nervous system.

What system works with the nervous system?

The nervous system is comprised of two parts, somatic and autonomic. The somatic nervous system is the control over your skeletal muscles. It is voluntary. The autonomic system works automatically. It has system wide effects known as sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest).

What are the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system divisions of?

I just got this question, and I couldn't find it on the Internet, but my Biology book says the autonomic nervous system. If you have the same book, the answer is D. Good luck! :D

What is the nervous system that functions without conscious effort?

The autonomic nervous system functions independently and continuously without conscious effort.

What are some similarities and differences between the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system?

The somatic nervous system is the voluntary part of the brain and it operates under conscious control. The autonomic nervous system is the part of the brain that is involuntary, and that humans have no control over.

Which of the following is a way in which somatic and autonomic nervous systems are similar?

The somatic nervous system is the voluntary part of the brain and it operates under conscious control. The autonomic nervous system is the part of the brain that is involuntary, and that humans have no control over.

What nervous system functions independently and continuously?

The autonomic nervous system, which is the one that keeps your heart and lungs functioning without your conscious effort or control.

What is the difference the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system?

Autonomic is the automatic nervous system eg pain response (something you cannot not control) while the somatic nervous system is the thing we can control.

What is the function of the autonomic nervous system?

The function of the autonomic nervous system is to control involuntary actions, or body functions that must operate even without conscious awareness of those functions. It regulates heart activity, acting like brakes and accelerators to decrease or increase the heart rate.

How many divisions of the autonomic nervous system are there?

The autonomic nervous system is responsible for the control of the functions of the internal organs and it has two divisions. These are the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.

Why are terms autonomic nervous system and involuntary nervous system sometimes used together?

The autonomic nervous system is refered to as involuntary because it is not under conscious control. It is mediated mostly by the brain stem, cranial nerve X and some other cranial nerves and the paravertebral ganglia located thoracically and cranially.
