What is wrong when you replace a brake switch on 1989 Ford Ranger and the lights won't go off?

Sounds as if it is out of alignment, like someone is still steping on the brakes as you leave the vehicle. Or if some rewiring was redone, recheck it. Or your light switch is not working properly.
