If it is an automatic transmission it is most often the torque converter that will cause the jerking motion of the car.. another way to tell is the car will start to die when you come to a stop.
AnswerI had the same problem in my 93 lumina euro... it's most likely the fuel pump. AnswerMy 92 Chevy Lumina did the exact same thing, it turned out to be my crank sensor, and crack sensor wiring.Wiki User

You may have the problem of your intake manifold gaskets. They are a problems on the lumina. I had to have mine replaced due to the same thing. Also check if your coolant is mixing with your oil if it is. Than it is definitally your intake manifold gasket.
