We are looking for the possible blood types for a father.

Available information:

  • Mother type O -- OO can only contribute an O gene
  • Baby type A -- has to be type AO since the mother contributes the O
Father contributes the A gene; therefore, his genotype might be:
  • AA
  • AO
  • AB
With a mother type OO and baby type AO, the father would be either type A or AB.

We are looking for the possible blood types of a baby.

Parental information:

  • Mother type O pos -- can only be OO and Rh (++) or (+-)
  • Father type A pos -- can be AA or AO and Rh (++) or (+-)
Baby recieves one gene from each parent:
  • Baby is type AO Rh (++) = Type A pos
  • Baby is type AO Rh (+-) = Type A pos
  • Baby is type AO Rh (--) = Type A NEG
  • Baby is type OO Rh (++) = Type O pos
  • Baby is type OO Rh (+-) = Type O pos
  • Baby is type OO Rh (--) = Type O NEG
Therefore, from O pos and A pos parents, their child might be Type A pos/neg or Type O pos/neg.

The baby could be type B or possibly type O depending on the dad's genotype.

With those parents, the possibilities are A or O. The + or - cannot be determined only from that information.

Can a mother with b plus blood type and a father with b plus blood type have a baby with a blood type?

Yes, it is possible. The geneotype of the mother would be either BB or BO and for the father would be OO. If you cross the father's geneotype and either of the mother's then at least two of the four outcomes will be for B blood type. As for the - and +, positive is dominant over negative. The father could be + - or + + and the mother would be - -. Either combination would result in at least two positives. Therefore, it is possible for the mother to be B-, the father to be O+ and the baby to be B+. I added the link to the website where I got my info from. I want to know if an rh b neg blood type mother and an O positive father can have an A positive baby?

Where does the human embryo get blood from mother or father?

The mother shares her blood with the fetus. The fetus makes its own blood. The mother's blood comes in close proximity to the fetal blood to exchange oxygen and nutrients, but the two bloods do not mix. If they mixed, mother and baby would always have the same blood type - which is not true.

What is the expected phenotypic ratio among children born to a mother having the genotype IAiO and a father with the phenotype AB?

Because the actuality of IAIA is actually A then the father would be type A and the mother being type O they would produce children of Type A blood type. For the answer I chose A) A... I just had this on my Bio exam.

Can father is A blood group and mother is B blood group and baby is male or female?

It depends. If the mother is heterozygous rh+ rh- for the rh blood type, then the baby could inherit an rh- allele from both parents, and then it would be rh negative.

Is it possible for a male with A blood type to have a child with a female B blood type who is O?

Yes.... because the father and mother could be carrying the recessive 'O' Trait. the father could be AO and The Mother BO and if you take that and put it in a punnent square you see that there is a 25% chance that the child would have type O blood.
