There were many different types of dinosaurs. Some had a head as long as a child, some were no taller than your knee. Some were intelligent and deadly meat eaters that killed anything in their way, and some were dumb plant eaters that munched away at leaves all day. Some made special nests and took great care of their hatchlings, some just laid their eggs as they were walking along. Fun facts: The smartest dinosaurs, troodons (true-oh-dons) were only as smart as possums. Pterodactyls arent dinosaurs, they are pterosaurs, and neither were dimetrodons or plesiosaurs. Dinosaurs lived for 185,000,000 years (not all at the same time)! Brontosaurus is actually Apatosaurus. The name dinosaur means terrible lizard, but dinosaurs werent lizards, they were reptiles. The biggest meat eating dinosaur isn't Tyrannosaurus Rex, but Giganotosaurus (remember Giganotosaurus not Gigantosaurus). Dinosaurs closest living relatives are (drum roll).......birds! Humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time, and the last dinosaurs and the first people were separated by 65,000,000 years. No one knows what colour dinosaurs were or what they sounded like, so 'big fierce' T-rex could have been pink and said "AAH! I broke a claw!" and 'docile slow moving' stegosaurus could have been dark with skulls and gone "ROAR! GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Many mysteries surrond dinosaurs, some we may never find the answer to.
