Snakes rely more on their tongue for direction more that their eyesight. They also rely on heat that they pic up on. A warmblooded animal is easy for them to find because the body gives off heat the the snake can follow. The poisness snake really benefits from this because after it bites its prey it can find it then. Some snakes do rely on their eyesight , but their tonge plays a more important role.
mostly all snakes can come out at night as in the day they rest in the sun so at night there usually more active.
