Wolves no longer reside in Florida, except for the coyote, which is an introduced species. The red wolf, Canis Rufus, was once found there, but they were exterpated in the late 1800's. Today, the red wolf resides in the wild only in North Carolina's Alligator River Refuge, where around 110 survive.
There is a red wolf population at St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge.
