Don't turn a guerrilla war into a conventional one; like Vietnam turned out to be. In the future fight FIRE with FIRE; much like the Australians did in Vietnam (they had low casualities and a high enemy body count).
Today's "bells and whistles" military people (bells and whistles=hi-tech super dooper snipers and night vision .50 caliber sniper rifles, hi-tech sniper schools, computerized GPS navigation systems, LASER RANGE FINDERS (no more estimations) etc.) can terminate terrorists/insurgents (insurgents are people that attack an established government...they themselves NOT having a government, except the one they're attacking-which is often their own) as easily as those three hi-jackers were terminated this year (2009) by USN SEALS; One Shot, One Kill (times three!)
SF (Snipers, Commando's, SEALS, etc) are less expensive because one SF man is equal to 10 or more standard military men. He's more effective; He's less expensive; and greatly feared by the enemy, whomever that enemy may be.
The Global War On Terrorism requires Special Forces (SF) to deal with Special Problems!
