In the World War II era, Hitler and his Nazi associates (along with many ordinary Germans) wished to kill Jews because, in their view, Jews were responsible for Germany's sufferings and hardships before and after World War I. Indeed, Nazi Germany based its rule on the claim that Jews throughout history were enemies of European civilization and would, if ever gaining the power to do so, cause further suffering for all.

∙ 10y agoNothing forced Hitler to make the decisions that he did or feel the way that he did. Hitler was very aware and cognizant of everything he said and everything he did. He was an incredible orator, able to motivate tens of thousands of people with his passionate beliefs about the greatness of the German people. He was well aware of how effective he was in galvanizing support for his atrocities and planned elaborate systems for maintaining the bureaucracy that drove it. He also spent a lot of time and effort in developing the ideology that would drive this hatred. Hitler was not a machine, but a man and a very passionate one who freely chose to commit one of the greatest atrocities in history.
