Plant matter like twigs, grass clippings, leaves, tops and bottoms of old veggies and fruit works well, egg shells, newspaper, and other organic material works. NO meat, coffee grounds, or sycamore leaves.

Classification of non-biodegradable and biogradablede?

Non-biodegradable is when you throw something away and bury it into the ground it will not turn into compost for example, plastic. Biodegradeable on the other hand means if you throw something on the ground like an apple it will disintegrate and turn into the compost or mud that is around it. Is that what you meant??

How is organic compost made?

You just create a pile where you throw old veggie and fruit tops and bottoms, leaves, grass clippings, newspaper, and other organic or plant matter onto the pile. No sycamore leaves, coffee grounds, or meat should be put in the pile. Then turn the pile often and a rich black soil will form in about 3 years. Then use it in your garden or flower bed. -Super Llama

Can sawdust be used in a compost pile?

Yes, sawdust can be used in compost. Anything organic can be composted, including you and other animals and paper. Cellulose is difficult to digest by your hardworking microbes so make sure to have lots of green nitrogen material mixed in with it, ie. grass clippings, manure & food waste. Make sure there is NO treated wood sawdust as this is all poisonous. HINT, but a garden fork and leave it in the compost pile at all times. this way you will automatically turn over your mix each time you visit it. This adds oxygen, as well as blending in the microbes with the materials. HINT 2, throw a few shovel fulls of topsoil or other compost as a starter. Keep the material damp like a wrung out sponge. Should you flush leftover food down the toilet or should you throw it away?

throw it away case the toiet will get clgged common sense No-one is suggesting large joints of beef! What I want to throw down the toilet, as I can't compost them, and they go manky in the rubbish are things like rice, pasta, scraps of food after a party. Of course I don't routinely throw these things away, but sometimes the best laid plans.... Anyway I always break it up so it won't clog the bog.
