One of the poles. If it is the June solstice, then it is the South Pole with 24 hours of darkness and the North Pole with 24 hours of daylight, while it is the opposite in the December solstice.

Every place north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle has one period

of more than 24 hours when the sun doesn't set, and another (equal) period of more

than 24 hours when the sun doesn't rise ... one of each every year.

The closer the place is to the north or south pole, the longer these periods are.

Right at the north and south pole, the sun stays up for six months, and then goes

down for six months.

What part of earth is darkest at the solsticewhy?

The hemisphere that is in the winter solstice - for example, the northern hemisphere in December - will receive less light, because the Sun is in the opposite direction, with respect to Earth.

What part of Earth is darkest at the solstice and why?

If it the solstice is in northern hemisphere, then it is Antarctica, and if it occurs in southern hemisphere, then it is the North Pole. There is no stable day-night transition at the poles, therefore durring winter, the pole remains in darkness for the entire season, and durring summer sun never sets but moves in along the horizon.

Which parts of earth point at the sun?

Since earth is very close to being a sphere (it is an oblate spheroid) there really isn't any part of it that 'points' to the sun. The north pole tilts more toward the sun during the north's summer solstice and the south pole tilts more toward the sun during summer solstice in the south. But the earth's pole never points directly at the sun. The part of earth's surface that is closest to the sun (the part of earth experiencing solar noon with the sun at local zenith) will always be someplace between and including the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
