I've seen rates as low as 3.5% and as high as 12%. What must also be considered is the quality of the billing service. A lower rate doesn't necessarily translate to cost savings. A good billing service will be diligent in collecting outstanding accounts and even at a higher rate the Drs. net cashflow may be greater than with a lower priced billing service.
