The original Pizza (so the story goes) was the Pizza Margherita (named for, and supposedly created for, Margherita Maria Teresa Giovanna of Savoy--check Wikipedia if you want more info). It is red (tomato), white (real mozzarella cheese), and green (basil)--the colors of the Italian flag (aka il tricolore). Basically a caprese salad baked on top of a focaccia loaf, it became an instant classic and inspired a whole genre of global fast food. Amongst other things. Viva Napoli.
