What engine do you have? Makes a difference between the 2.5 4 or the 4.0 6. This is my 2nd Cherokee, the first a 89, and now a 2000. and both are averaging a good 18-20 mpg. That also assumes that you drive responsible and does not have it lifted. My 05 TJ is lifted with 33's under it, and I get roughly 13 MPG. so there's the range.
