What should you do if your boyfriend went to Thailand for a month on holiday and you think he may have cheated and you felt down because he was not here so you cheated on him?

I normally would not answer these "advice" based questions, but this actually happened to a friend of mine. Believe it or not, his G/F was in Thiland too. (what is it with that country) Anyways, he hooked up with a girl at a house party while she was out of the country and I walked in on them. He was devistated (blamed it on alcohol, typical) and felt really gulity as well. I took the stance of it being none of my business, However, he asked for advice and this is what I told him. "You know what you did was not right, the guilt your feeling is telling you that. Look at it this way...if you tell her what you did will it help the situation or cause more pain?" He told me he thought it would cause more pain. I asked her if he loved her, and he said he did, allot. I asked him if he wanted to cause her any pain, he said no. I told him that he best keep it to himself and put up with the pain of guilt for a while, he deserved it. that was in 1999, it is 8 years later, they are happily married and have 2 children. Some people might say that honesty is the path to a great relationship, but there may not be a relationship if this information gets out. This is a great life lesson for you, realize it and never let it happen again, the gulit will help to rienforce that revalation. It sounds like you have some serious issues to deal with. I don't know if you have had problems with your boyfriend straying before but that is not the issue here. If you are willing to cheat on your boyfriend because you think he MIGHT be cheating on you then you should do some serious soul-searching and consider professional counseling. There are many different ways you could have handled the issue. You could have waited until your boyfriend got back and asked him. If you trust his word then it would have been settled. If you don't trust his word, then why are you with him? Being with a liar can not result in a happy ending. But if he is an honest person and treats you well, you might have done irrepairable damage to your relationship. Live and learn. Remember, always strive to wake up the next morning a better person than you were yesterday. You will find happiness.
