What should you do if your girlfriend wants to go out of state to college but you do not want her to leave?

It's all boils down to how you really feel about her. I just recently moved out of state for college, and my boyfriend didn't want me to leave either. But he loves me enough to respect my choice and be happy for me, rather than try to make me second guess myself. If you care for your girlfriend you will support her in decision and try to be there for her in any way possible (considering the distance between you).

Well I think that you should just tell your girlfriend exactly how you feel and suggest a college closer so she can be with you. And she might not be wanting to leave the relationship, maybe she justs wants a good college educaion so she can become what she wants and then maybe make good money and raise a great family with you. And if she thinks that you love her then she might also be doing this to see if you really do and if you would wait on her to do what she wants to do. Mainly all you need to do is sit down with her and talk about. Sorry if this doenst help.

let your girlfriend live, its up to her what she wants to do in life... not you long distance relationships work too.

Before my boyfriend and I started going out, I knew he was leaving the following fall. Then I was just like "oh OK." Now he is in the process of making it all come true. I don't want to be far from him just as he doesn't from me, but i can't expect him to fail and settle. I want him happy. After he leaves we won't be together for 3yrs. We will see what happens . So let your girlfriend follow your dreams, no matter what the issue is. If you were meant to be together, you will and survive a tough part of each others life.

There's nothing you can do. You can tell her how you feel but its ultimately her choice what she does with her life. If she's going out of state then she isn't worth your time ,and you should find someone who values you AND lives in the same town as you.

Let her leave. At that age you have dreams, and you want to be able to follow them. If you stop her from following her dreams, she'll resent you for it. Don't be selfish with your feelings... which is exactly what is posing the problem. If you love her, distance will not matter.

You should find another girlfriend.

Sorry, but let her go. She has her own life, and deserves to live it, with or without you. You can still keep in touch, but you probably won't have a romantic relationship anymore.

You should be happy she's going someplace she wants to go. I know it's hard, but just suck it up. Just keep in touch with email or something - you'll be more like best friends than anything else, but it's better than nothing.

I know how you feel (even though I am a woman.) If you love her try to be happy for her. If you make her stay then you're crushing her dreams of advancing herself in life. You can do many things. If possible try going to the same college, and if you can't do that then try to visit her at least every 3 months and keep in contact by email and phone. The relationship may just work out and just because she's leaving for college doesn't mean she doesn't want to retain the relationship you now have. Give it a shot! Don't give up get.

Listen, you was born alone. Never get so attached ,that you loose control of yourself . Sometimes you bend over backwards for someone and it really isn't worth it. There are far too many girls in the word to let one girl drive you crazy. If one girl doesn't work out ,find someone that has more consideration for you feelings. In this case the reality of life is people grow up and move on. The girl is just doing what she has to do. Let life play itself out.

I think you should go for it. If you like someone there is no point in denying yourself that.
