They are all good in a straight line. Suzuki and Kawasaki handle very differently from Honda and Yamaha. S & K tend to be more lively and less smooth than H & Y. Triumph are competitive and full of status. The Buell, very short (great for tight turns and lively handling) and a monster engine, is a brute with class. Anything Italian has style, especially a Duke(ducati). A Duke is an out-and-out thoroughbred that will just fly, and will corner like it's on rails. Unfortunately, on tick-over, Ducati's tend to sound like someone dropping the contents of a spanner bag down an iron grating (thanks to the open clutch cover) but it is as endearing a sound as a Harley potato-potato thump-thump. However, the best sportbike on the highway is the one that fits you best, the one you feel part of, not the one you sit on top of. The one that you control, not the one that controls you. They are all different both geometrically and ergonomically. Try a few in the range 600 to 1000cc. There are some really hot 600s out there but there are also some very pretty, but slow and difficult ones, too.
