5w30, full synthetic if you want a better oil. may want a different weight if you live in an area with climate extremes.
You will need to drain the oil from your 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora oil pan. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts. Remove the oil pan gasket and clean the surface. Put the new gasket on and reverse the process.
You put it down the tube that holds the trans dipstick.
if you put to much oil your crankshaft will wipe in to it and cause bubbles and inside bubbles is air and air does not lube the engine at all. it will ruin it.

Put it in the low side. The small round valve. Make sure the ac is on.
Use a filter wrench to loosen then spin off with hand.Make sure you put fresh oil around the new filter gasket and make sure the old gasket is on the old filter.

The type of oil one can use in a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass is either 10 W 30 or 20w-50. This oil can be purchased at any auto parts store.
if its got a 3.5 you need 6 qts.
It is not necessarily a bad thing. It however will not be very cost effective on a daily driver. The benefits will be negligible.
