Frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts are all amphibians. They are a group of vertebrate animals that spend part of their time on land and part in the water; so they are considered an intermediate form between fishes and reptiles.
Amfibians are animals that spend most of their life in and arround water.
such as frogs and toads for instance, all amfibians have a wet and slimy 'mucas covered' body to keep theselves hydrated as the can not drink the water out of a pond due to certain things in their body which I'm not going to explain! (It's a verry long and complicating story.) Finally, the way to know if an animal is an amfibian apart from it being near water and covered with mucas, is to see weather they lay eggs in the water and, they are either in a long string shape or a small clump shape. (That last one is the hardest way to find an amfibian but the other two ways will do just fine!)
I hope this has helped your question, please give comments if nescasary.
