Experiments done in space are normally done to see the effects of weightlessness (zero-G) on various physical and biological things.

Medical experiments are done on Astronauts to see how weightless affects them, both immediately and after long stays in space. Tests of the immediate effects include such things as how their balance organs work in weightlessness. Long term effects include the rates of bone loss, methods to reduce this loss and how various body functions and body chemistry change with increases in time in weightlessness.

Experiments on plants and animals include how they grow and whether the space environment causes mutations during reproduction. There are physical experiments such as how fire burns in weightlessness, how many small particles are moving around in the void of space (outside the spacecraft).

What are some experiments that are done on the space station?

Many different experiments are done on the space station. There have been experiments done on Salmonella; Tethered Satellite System; seeing if a rose smelled different in space; building protein crystals; building films or materials in space; and studying nematodes in space.

Why might some scientific experiments be best done in space?

Because the condition requirement of scientific experiments cannot be done on Earth.Sometimes gravity gets in the way. Sometimes air gets in the way.

What is the name of the science that studies space?

Space research is any type of research that is done in space or relating to space. Some examples are experiments on how people age in space, if people get taller in zero gravity, and how weightlessness affects bone density. These answers can have implications for people on earth, even though first done in space.

What are principles of interspersion?

If measurements and experiments can't be done at the same place and time, they must be interspersed in space and time.

What or who did they send to the space station?

A lot of astronauts have served on the International Space Station. Supplies of food and other necessities are brought for the astronauts. As the space station is still undergoing construction, additional parts and modules are brought up to it. A lot of experiments are done on it, so equipment and necessary materials to conduct those experiments are brought to the space station.
