She prevented England being subsumed into a grand continental alliance under the Holy Roman Emperor (or later, Philip of Spain) with England becoming simply a satellite and servants of a corrupt dynasty. She also prevented England from joining a religious alliance under the Papacy, one that stemmed from the Council of Trent and led most of Europe into a Catholic Sect. This would have caused the Church in England to lose its freedom and independence, which dated back to the early days of the Catholic Church before Trent was even thought of.

Queen Elizabeth I was a most successful Queen, but longed for the devotion of her people that Roman Catholics reserved for Our Blessed Mother. She was an excellent statesman and ruler, but never could have the devotion of her people the way the Blessed Mother did, and still does to this day.
