Reportedly, the merchant traveler, Marco Polo, reached Khubilai's royal court at Khanbalik in 1275. The location indicated the length of Marco Polo's adventure. The court he reached is deep in eastern China, near now what is called the Yellow Sea.

If we are to believe his stories, he travelled all over China. In reality, his stories were in all probability a collection of stories he had picked up from merchants travelling the Silk Road to and from China and his family's trading post; and Marco himself never ventured beyond his family's trading post which was situated near the Black Sea.

Proof that he probably just used other peoples' stories, embellishing them with a few invented heroics of himself is the fact that the meticulous record-keepers in China and those around the Great Khan who supposedly treated him like a son nowhere mention his existence, let alone his exploits. So "the Black Sea" in all probability it is.
