George Rogers Clark was an American Colonel that led his troops to capture Fort Sackville from the British. This capture occurred on February 25th 1779.
The fort had three different owners. Built by the French and named Fort Carillon, it was renamed Fort Ticonderoga by the British when they captured it in the French and Indian War. In the Revolutionary War the Americans captured it from the British and used it as a base for their invasion of Canada.
