All of the terrorists involved in the 9/11/01 attacks considered themselves to be Muslims - followers of Islam. Islam, however, refers to itself as a religion of peace, so it has been questioned whether they truly followed Islamic teachings.

It is believed that most of the terrorists were of the Islamic faith. However one must remember that the Koran does not teach violence, but peace to all men. Some groups who break away from the true teaching of the Koran turn to terrorism as a means to an end. Just as there are bad Muslims there are bad Christians who misinterpret the scriptures to suit their own needs. If you look through history you will find that the Christian religion has caused more harm to the peoples of the world that any other religion.
