The Yamassee Native Americans
"Their name, pronounced YAM-uh-see, is thought to mean "gentle." When Europeans first settled among them-Spanish missionaries in the late 1500s-the Yamasee..."
The Yamassee War Started and Was fought over like much of the wars, Land & Freedom of a Native people. If Someone Came to your House, and took over would you not fight back? But what made the war so popular, was the fact the Yamassee, Helped the Spaniards Defeat the British, Then The Spaniards, turn on them, and they fought the Spaniards also. Sounds Like a Strong Group of people. And Secondly they make it seem as if the Yamassee Were a Small band or Tribe, when actuality, they were hundred thousand Strong...... FACT
That's Why it was so hard for the British& Spanish to attempt to annihilate them.
And when they could not wipe them out of existence, they LEarn to just Pick Up A Pen and Wipe them out that way!
The US history, never like showing a defeat, but it became obvious, you took the spanking!
They Were so smart they hid Amongst other tribes to Keep from Complete Extinction.
It the Rural Area's of Saint Augustine, Lake Park Georgia, Tallahassee, Jacksonville etc...

Yamasee War in CarolinaThe cause of the Yamasee War was that the colinists were taking to much land and never gave any back.Correct Answer: It is a little more in depth than that. The South Carolina government known as the Lord Proprietors had a agreement with the Yamassee in a form of a treaty to keep all of their coastal land in between the Combahee and the Savannah river. No one was to encroach on the Yamassee land or pass through according to the Treaty. The only buildings that could be built were churches! Constant violations by South carolina citizens forced the Yamassee to attempt a peaceful resolution with appointed agents that represented South Carolina. Enraged that nothing would come from their meeting with the Indian agents, the Yamassee went on a war path of destruction, killing hundreds of South Carolina citizens with the aide of other tribes from various regions. This war was considered one of the most bloodiest compared to King Phillips. (Yamassee War of 1715) more information on the Yamassee can be found on their official website yamasseegov.org or go into google books and type in Yamassee
