There is no way to reduce the calcium level except by draining some or all of the water. High calcium levels are a problem mostly in the southwest part of the US. Draining a pool can be dangerous if the water table is high; the pool can actually pop out of the ground.
I believe it is a draining bolt, and easier way to drain or flush the coolant from the cooling system.
Depending on the way that it was installed, as long as the a/c is draining correctly this is okay.........

I have always done it the hard way by draining the radiator, then refill with water and some radiator flush, run the engine till at operating temp and drain again. Fill with water, run and drain 2 more times, then refill with coolant and water at 50/50 mix. They do make power flush kits that eliminate the added steps.
Time. Water, medication, food, etc, all help with the symptoms, but the only way to reduce BAC is for the alcohol to pass through your system.
Auto parts stores sell coolant flush kits some are just a chemical you add to water after draining the old coolant. The other uses your garden hose fitting you install to flush the system after you drain the old coolant. I personally use the second method.
