According to Christianity, nothing much is said regarding Joseph the adoptive father of Jesus of Nazareth. His only claim was to be a direct descendant of King David, which would be a moot point because the looked-for messiah would be from that lineage, adoptions do not count. So Joseph would have to be a pretty good person to undertake his place in Christian tenet.
