Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia declared independence in 1991 while Serbia and Montenegro (officially one country) formed in 1992. Montenegro got its independence in 2006 from Serbia. They are now 2 separate countries which means Yugoslavia was made up of 6 different countries.
Yugoslavia means 'Land of the Slavs'. It was a country in Southeastern Europe from the end of World War I (1918) until the fall of communism and the Yugoslav Wars (1992). The modern day countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia are the remnants of Yugoslavia.
The question as phrased makes no sense. Turkestan as a united entity did not exist, so there cannot be "former republics." Perhaps the question was a mash-up of the question: "What are the 5 former republics of the Soviet Union that form Turkestan?" for which the answer would be: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
2-4 is not a split. They are right next to each other. In bowlin the definition of a split is where you leave pins wider apart and the head pin is not standing(ie the 5-7, 7-10, 2-10) Most of the actual splits do have names though.
