Both had a large nuclear arsenal. Both had the largest military forces in the world. Both had the habit of supporting dictatorships around the world. America supported right wing fascist dictatorships and the Soviet Union supported Left leaning dictatorships (which it itself was). In supporting these dictatorships both had a hand (either directly or indirectly) in the slaughter of millions of people worldwide. Both had sophisticated Intelligence services that monitored their own civilian populations and monitored populations abroad. That's all I can think of right now but I'm sure there is more.
Both countries were war weary and very distrustful of each others intentions.
After the defeat of Nazi Germany, both countries sought to consolidate their perceived gains of war.
Both countries became expert in all aspects of covert warfare and executed a "cold war" worldwide for nearly 40 years.
The defeat of the Axis in World War II and the subsequent cold war has been the greatest event to influence human history for the past century and will continue to impact history for the foreseable future.
Literally hundreds of thousand of books, research papers, policy papers, dogmatic theory and spy thrillers have been written on this subject.
The u.s beleived in democracy and were fighting to spread it while the soviet were fighting for the spread of communism
Soviet Union was communist.
The differences between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany are, they are different countries altogether. The Soviet Union was formed during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1916 which took Russia out of World War I. The Soviet Union was a communist nation while Germany was a fascist nation. Even though fascism and Communism are very similar, there are some differences. Nazi Germany was born in the early 1930's during the Great Depression, when Adolf Hitler was nominated Chancellor of Germany by the President of Germany. After his Ascension to power, Hitler quickly used terror and destroy his enemies and blamed aermany's defeat in World War I on the Jews and businessmen of the Reich. Nazis Germany lasted until it was defeated in World War II by the allied powers of America, England, France and the Soviet Union.

During WW II all four of those countries were ruled by dictators. I would go so far as to call them evil dictators.
As for similarities, London and Moscow were targets for the invasion of Britain and the Soviet Union during the Nazi invasions of Europe, respectively in 1940 for Britain and 1941 for the Soviet Union. Hitler and Napoleon both wanted to conquer England and Russia, but failed due to several reasons like Britain being separated by the English Channel and Russia by it's expansive landmass and harsh climate. Differences can include the fact that the time is different for the capitals and the architecture is largely different such as the Kremlin in Moscow and the Buckingham Palace in London. Moscow also has a large square for many military parades called Red Square and many buildings coming from the Soviet era still exist in post-Soviet times.
The Cold War
Relations between US and Soviet Union during Cold War Relations between US and Vietnam during Vietnam war Soviet relations with PRC
In the post-World War II era, different value-systems, world-views, and socio-political ideals were the the main causes of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States. As a communist country, the Soviet Union's basic commitments were quite different from the democratic-republican commitments of America. At the same time, the Soviet Union's tremendous suffering during both world wars affected its aggressive foreign (and domestic) policy during the Cold War, as well.
because of idolgy differences
Political differences Soviet Union was communist and wanted to spread communism around the world USA was anti communist and prevent communism spreading and install democracy
