This question is impossible to answer in the space allotted. In the last 300 years, there have been, in total, thousands of "End-of-the-World" predictions ranging from the vague ("in this era")
to the ultra-specific: ("5:17 PM, Tuesday, February 17th"). Quite obviously, none have been accurate, and predicting the end of the world does not seem to be as popular as it once was.
But it will never disappear completely.
