Age isn't necessarily the key. Size is. Fry should be about 1/4 an inch before being released into a live-bearer community.
You should do this when the babies are big enough that they wont fit into any of the fish mouths.
When first born it seems like you can only see there black beady eyes they are a cream or white colour and usually take a couple of weeks till they start getting a pattern!
They breed every 4 weeks and they can have up to 4-123 babies. Put in lots of plants so the baby Mollies can hide from the other fish in the tank. Separate the baby mollies in a 2+ gallon tank and feed them crushed algae flake food 4 times a day.
Depending on their growth rate, you should be able to identify males and females after 4 to 6 weeks of age.
an inch
yes. I have successfully cross bred them.
they should mollies arnt that aggresive but if the guppies are small enough it is possible the mollies will eat them but its not likely
Baby Mollies should not change colour. (They are not like goldfish) They are released from the females cloaca with their adult colouring. It is only hard to see variations/spots etc because the fish are so tiny. As they grow larger these different markings will become more evident.
As long as it isn't small enough to fit in their mouths.
aproximmately 12 days
can i have my baby at 24 weeks if i wanted to?
yesbut they leave after 4 weeks so they get use to hunting alone
