I work in a spare part shop, and most of the belts we sell are designed for 80000km. Since the manufacturer can't be responsible about what happens during the belt use (especially, drops of oil or coolant fluid), we recommend to change them every 60000km, to better be safe than sorry.
The original factory-fitted belt is designed for 120000km, but I'd not risk running it for that long.
Also, when buying a new car, we always recommend replacing the belt as you can neevr be sure how it was fitted and under what conditions the car was used. Changing the belt also usually involves changing tensioner pulleys or idlers (or both).
