At an intersection where there is no stop sign or traffic signal (with the exception of roundabouts), drivers must yield to vehicles coming from the right. When approaching a roundabout intersection, always yield to traffic in the circle and pedestrians in the crosswalks. Wait for a gap in traffic before entering.

Yield right of way means you must slow down or stop to allow traffic or pedestrians already moving in your path of travel.

For example when you are merging onto a highway, you are suppose to yield to traffic already on the highway. That doesn't mean come to a dead stop at the bottom of the ramp (unless you have to) but it also does not mean you can cut off a car moving faster than you to jump into the lane, you're suppose to fall into the faster moving traffic and then speed up to match (ideally you should be at freeway speed when merging anyway).

You have to yield the right of way to a pedestrian already in a crosswalk as another example.

If you were to come to a four way intersection with no traffic signals (no lights no signs) you would have to yield to any cars coming to your right, as they would the right of way.

One last example is in rotaries (or roundabouts) in many cases the vehicles in the rotary have the right of way, they don't have to stop for you if you are trying to enter.

Local traffic laws may vary depending on the state, province, or country you live in. In some parts of the world the laws may exist but are very loosely, if ever enforced.

Slow down and be aware if there are cars coming in the direction, but you do not have to stop completely like a stop sign if the area is clear.

What is controlled intersections?

Controlled intersections have traffic lights, yield signs or stop signs to control traffic. At a controlled intersection where you face a green light, drive carefully through the intersection at a steady speed. If the light has been green for a while, be prepared to stop when it turns yellow. However, if you are already so close that you cannot stop safely, drive through the intersection with caution. Where you face a red light, come to a complete stop and wait until the light turns green. When you approach an intersection on a main road, and the intersection is blocked with traffic, stop before entering the intersection and wait until the traffic ahead moves on. This does not apply if you are turning left or right. At a controlled intersection where you face a yield sign, slow down or stop if necessary and wait until the way is clear before driving through the intersection. At a controlled intersection where you face a stop sign, come to a complete stop. Drive through the intersection only when the way is clear (Diagram 2-15).

At an intersection having no traffic signs or signals you must yield the right-of-way if?

You ALWAYS yield to the vehicle on your right.

When there is a intersection and no sign do you yield?

At intersections without "STOP" or "YIELD" signs, slow down and be ready to stop. Yield to traffic and pedestrians already in the intersection or just entering the intersection. At "T" intersections without "STOP" or "YIELD" signs, yield to traffic and pedestrians on the through road. They have the right-of-way.

If you approach a red light and a traffic officer direct you to go through the intersection without stopping you should?

Follow the officer's instructions, they take precidence over traffic controls such as stoplights or signs. This applies to a uniformed public safety official performing traffic control, thus might be a firefighter, etc, instead of a police officer. FOLLOW me on instagram @merakiy
